October 31, 2013

So, it was Halloween and that is important, but first things first.  Benson REALLY went pee in his potty today.  He patted his diaper and said "pee" so I took him to the bathroom and he peed in his toilet.  WOOHOO.  Sorry for everyone who thinks this is gross, but it is a momentous occasion and one that I am documenting.

On to Halloween :)

I was looking very forward to Halloween this year.  Benson was so dang cute last year and it was fun, but I knew this year he would "get it" a bit more.  I was excited to pick out his costume because this year he understands what animals are and I knew he would get a kick out of being dressed as one.  I was also very curious to see how he did with seeing other people in costumes as well as doing the whole trick-or-treating thing.  He did great with both.  All he needed to see was that when he knocked on someone's door they gave him candy and he was an instant fan.  It really only took one door and he was totally fine going up to strangers (this is the kid that still cries when he sees family members he knows and loves).  I guess all it takes is candy and he will be your best friend.

Truly the cutest elephant ever!  He would not wear the hood when we tried it on, but once we were outside and trick or treating it was like he didn't know it was there.

 Checkin out the loot

He chose "nerds" as the first candy he could eat.  (we had to take out all of the chocolate candy thanks to the nut thing....poor kid)

Hangin out with the girls.  I will definitely post pictures of them when I get them.  They were ADORABLE!

Halloween this year was fun.  Benson is just growing up and makes every single day so fun, but especially the holidays!

October 30, 2013

Today I just got more proof of how much this kid loves primping.  He could probably spend an hour in the bathroom, playing in the water, "cleaning" the toilet, brushing his teeth, brushing his hair (with whatever type of brush he can find: hairbrush, toothbrush, scrubbrush...), putting on makeup, rubbing lotion on, and so on and so forth.  He is at such a curious age where he just wants to try everything and be very independent about it.

Discovering he can "brush" his hair with his toothbrush.  He loved how he looked!

Benson loves getting into mommy's makeup.  I try to notice and not allow it, for multiple reasons, but sometimes he is just too quick for me.

Mascara.....impressive that he knows it goes near the eye :)
LOVES combing his hair!

October 28, 2013

I was driving in the car and Benson started doing the actions for "The Itsy Bitsy Spider", which he has been doing for quite a while.  So, we sang it.  Then, I looked back at him and he was holding his little hands around his eyes and at first I had no idea what he wanted.  Then I realized it was "I looked out the window and what did I see?  POPCORN POPPING".  I had no idea he knew this song, but we sang it and he did all the actions.  I was so surprised and assumed they must have sang it yesterday in nursery.  They didn't.  I have no idea how or why he all the sudden knew it, but I was super excited because it is pretty much the cutest thing ever.  Ben was just as excited tonight when we sang it with him.

While cooking dinner tonight I totally forgot about the rice and the room completely filled with smoke and the smoke detector went off.  For the rest of the night Benson was OBSESSED with pointing at the smoke alarm and having us explain what it does and why.  Hopefully I didn't give him a new thing to be afraid of :)

October 27, 2013

For the past couple of Sundays we have been lucky enough to Skype with Lolo, Lola and Tita Elisha in Oregon.  It's been so fun.  Benson is hilarious because he pretty much ignores them and does whatever he wants, but I know he LOVES seeing them and getting their attention.  It's so fun to let them see all the fun things he is doing, the words he is saying, his hilarious personality coming out, etc.  I love technology.

October 26, 2013

We have recently discovered this kid loves rice!  Loves loves loves rice.

He has also started doing a "thumb's up" sign!  It's adorable.

This is him dancing at the dinner table.  He doesn't eat enough, but when he finally does it sure makes him happy.  Plus dinner time definitely seems to be his hyper time.

October 25, 2013

Today was like Christmas for me, I got my doTerra oils and was seriously so excited.  It's been too long since I have gotten something for me (although, in reality this is for the whole family)

We moved in below a doTerra consultant and she has been so nice to give us samples when Benson has been sick and it has made such a difference I just had to get some of my own.  Cannot wait to start experimenting.

This boy is loving the nice weather and just being outside.  We have to soak it up before it is freezing cold and we are stuck inside.

He is seriously obsessed with playing in the car.  He pushes all the buttons, turns the interior lights on and off, tries to put on his seatbelt, etc.  My favorite is when he gets in he says "momma buh-bye" (as an indication that I need to shut the door and let him be, haha)

This evening we got together with my great friend, Tiffany Heugly.  She was one of my very best friends in Jr High and High School and we have stayed close ever since.  Her little girl, Brighton, and Benson are only about 5 weeks apart so we decided to get them together for a playdate.  Benson LOVED the rocking horse.

They were not sure of each other at first, but when Tiffany opened up the blinds they both rushed to look out the huge window.  I don't blame them, the view from Tiffany's parents house is by far the best there could possibly be of Orem.  It is stunning!

Benson is loving to color lately and loved this little chair and table that were just his size.  He kept pulling it away from Brighton, but that's just his style.  We are definitely going to have to get them together again soon.

This was taken when Benson was about 2 weeks old. WOW!  Time flies!  Hopefully they will be friends forever ( just like their moms).

October 24, 2013

Today is daddy's birthday!!!  We got to celebrate by going out for sushi with family and friends.  As most of you know, we LOVE Sushi and especially all you can eat at the Sushi House in AF.  So, that's where we celebrated.  We had a great turn out.  Ben, myself and Benson of course.  Then Kevin Frazier came, Rachelle and Brett, Archie, DJ and one of their good friends, and also Jake and Stacey Sohn stopped by.  I think Ben felt very loved.

October 22, 2013

So, we have entered the removing the diaper stage.  Oh boy!  He is showing interest in going potty, but mostly he just likes the fact that he can grab the tabs and rip them off himself.  It can be cute, like today when he was trying to put my clothes on.  But it can also be not so adorable, like when he pees on the floor.  Looks like potty training will be starting ASAP.

I found this so funny!  Benson has been getting the cough/cold that has been going around so I have been using oils in the diffuser in his room.  The diffuser is set up next to the monitor in his room.  Let's just say the first time I looked at the monitor and saw this I about freaked out.  I totally thought his room was haunted, haha!  Ben pretty much freaked out too so I just had to take a picture.

And this was him when I went to get him from his nap.  At least he and his bed were dry.

Tonight I also did my first doTerra class at my house.  It went great and it was just nice to have a kind of "girls night".  Daddy took Benson to McDonalds and to hang out with uncle Archie and we had a great time talking about oils and health and just enjoying each other's company.  I may have to make it a weekly thing.
